Kids in their teenage phase are naturally creative. With so much going on around them, they are booming with ideas and innovative progressions. Creative thinking is absolutely a vital life skill. It enables us to imagine, innovate, and react to unexpected changes. Creativity sure is an inborn skill. However, it can also be developed through entrepreneurial experience.
A traditional school curriculum and the rote learning process does not leave much space for the students to explore their creative side. All it targets is at the students to follow a pre-designed path, limiting their developmental skills.
This hampers their divergent thinking and decreases the number of students having a creative mindset. Life is much more beyond just mugging up academic syllabus – it is about exploration and introspection.
A thorough study on the entrepreneurial process has proven that creative thinking is a must have skill in any entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is all about new ideas, innovative solutions, introducing something out of the box, and finding an answer to every question. Thus, creative thinking helps teenagers devise interesting methods of progressive ideas.
We need to step out of the rote learning process and give teenagers the opportunity to become more creative and traverse through their visionary and productive minds.
Here is why we need to give students more opportunities encouraging creative thinking –
- It gives them the freedom of expression. Through creative learning and an entrepreneurial mindset, the students learn how to put forward their opinion firmly. It makes them more aware of their perspective and helps them put it out there in public.
- It enhances thinking capability. Every entrepreneurial experience ends up greatly expanding one’s thinking capacity. The creativity that goes into birthing any idea is unparalleled. Giving students such opportunities open a world of imaginative thinking and creative responses.
- It largely boosts problem solving skills. Every entrepreneur is expected to go through several issues and solve them on his/her own. Such an experience teaches teenagers from a young age how to go on and about solving problems independently. An entrepreneur is somebody who has a solution to every problem. Giving them the desired opportunities to upskill themselves helps them think about practical solutions.
- These opportunities promote an innovative mindset. Everybody is an entrepreneur in some way or the other, and everybody has those skills hidden in them somewhere. All we need to do is give these skills the right path to come out and verbalize. When teenagers are given opportunities stimulating creative thinking, their vision and mindset also expands.
This is precisely why it is incredibly salient to provide students with entrepreneurial opportunities and experiences for them to enhance and augment their creative thinking abilities. The rote learning process is a conservative approach and needs to trade with an opportunistic and developmental process instead!
